Free Consultation

We offer a free 20-minute consultation with our head teacher, Katrin Arefy, giving parents the opportunity to share their concerns, ask questions, and discuss their child’s individual needs and musical goals.

Whether your child is a complete beginner or has already started learning the piano, this consultation allows us to understand where they are in their musical journey, what motivates them to learn, and what you hope they will achieve.

Most importantly, this consultation allows Katrin to get to know each prospective student, regardless of age or level, and help match them with the teacher best suited to their needs, personality, and goals.

Our goal is to ensure that every student begins or continues their musical journey with an individualized approach tailored to their unique needs, interests, and goals.

Teacher Matching

We believe that love is the golden key to learning, and that love begins with connecting with your piano teacher.

The connection between student and teacher is crucial to developing a lasting love for music. That is why we take great care in helping each student find the teacher who best matches their personality, needs, and goals.

As students grow and their musical needs evolve, the teacher who was once the perfect match may no longer be the best fit. If that happens, we are always happy to explore new options and help students find a teacher who best suits their current stage of learning.

Our goal is to make sure that every student feels inspired, connected, and supported throughout their musical journey.

Piano lessons are available in three formats:

– In-home lessons throughout Manhattan

– Lessons at our Upper West Side teaching location

– Online lessons
Trial Lesson — $50

Once we have found the best teacher for you or your child, based on your needs and goals and with the guidance of our staff, we offer a trial lesson to make sure that the chemistry and connection between the student and teacher are as good as we had imagined.

The trial lesson also gives you an opportunity to experience our teaching approach and get a taste of what piano lessons at Manhattan Piano Academy are like.

There is no obligation to register before taking a trial lesson. You may choose to skip the trial lesson and register directly, or you can decide to enroll after experiencing your trial lesson.

Our goal is to help you make a confident and informed decision before beginning your musical journey with us.

The trial lesson costs $50 and is available in all three formats: in-home lessons in Manhattan, at our Upper West Side teaching location, and online.

Lesson Pricing: The regular price for a piano lesson is $125 per session. The $50 trial lesson is a special introductory offer intended to help prospective students experience our teaching approach before enrolling. The discounted trial price does not apply to ongoing weekly lessons.
Weekly Lessons

We are proud of the quality of our piano lessons, and to maintain our high educational standards, we believe that 60-minute lessons are essential for a comprehensive musical education.

For very young beginners, typically children ages 4½ to 5, we occasionally offer 45-minute lessons, gradually increasing the lesson duration to a full hour as the student develops.

Our teaching approach combines creativity, imagination, and strong musical foundations. Younger children learn through games and stories, while teenagers and adults explore the content and expression behind the music they play.

Whether your child wants to enjoy piano as a hobby or pursue more ambitious musical goals, our lessons are tailored to their individual needs and interests.

We are proud that some of our former students have continued their musical education and become professional musicians around the world.

Our goal is to help every student develop their skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
Performance Opportunities and Musical Growth

We offer an annual duet recital in the fall and a solo recital in the spring, open to students of all ages and levels. We also help students prepare for performances outside our school.

Our curriculum, developed over the past 20 years, includes an annual summer examination that allows students and families to see tangible results of their progress. Our teachers can also prepare students for external examinations of their choice.

While our philosophy focuses on inspiring a lifelong love of music rather than earning certificates or winning competitions, the quality of our teaching prepares students to achieve these goals whenever they choose to pursue them.
