Golden Key Paino School’s January 2023 Newsletter

Dear Manhattan Piano Academy Community,

We hope you had a great winter break! Our year starts off on a high note with our first annual duet recital and much more…

1. Duet Recital

We are excited to announce our first duet recital as Manhattan Piano Academy is on January 22nd 2023. Our head teacher Katrin Arefy is looking forward to meeting you all in person at the rehearsal and recital!

If you haven’t already registered, please choose a rehearsal time that works for you and register on the link below. After you attend the rehearsal, you are automatically registered for the recital.

Our school in Manhattan is 17 years younger than the one in Berkeley. Here is a taste of where we are headed as Manhattan Piano Academy. The two videos below show a beginner student performing with his father and an advanced brother and sister performing in our Annual Duet Recital that took place a few weeks ago in Berkeley. Although our Manhattan recital will be small, we are proud of every student participating and we look forward to bigger recitals in the future as the school is growing.

Here is the recital info. Please feel free to invite your friends. 🙂

WHERE: Piano Piano 37 West 65th Street 4th Floor, New York

WHEN: Rehearsal : Sunday January 15th 2023 1-2pm

Recital: Sunday January 22nd 2023 1pm

PRICE: $30 per student

HOW TO REGISTER: Register here

The $30 fee covers our rental of the place and pays for teachers time to attend the recital.

2. A Note From Our Artistic Director

Jaslene Lai came to me last month with a proposal to offer her love of music to younger children by tutoring them for free. She had prepared a presentation for me which was done professionally. To see her generous and loving gesture in wanting to teach younger children whose families don’t have the financial ability to take lessons was inspiring. Jaslene is now offering free tutorials to our students to help with their assignment. I would love to see her continue offering her knowledge and passion of music to those with financial needs as well and will do my part to support her on that.

Jaslene, I am proud of you not only because you are so talented, musical, hard working and intellectually curious, but also and especially because you are compassionate towards others and are willing to do your part to make the lives of younger children better by sharing your love of music with them.

Students like you and Elaine (see the story of Elaine’s Scholarship Fund here) not only make me love my job but inspire me to do more.

3. Referral System

Many thanks for referrals!

We have been registering students who were referred to us by current or former students of Golden Key Piano School. Believe it or not, we have even had referrals from those who are just starting their own lessons at Golden Key Piano School. We are flattered and grateful for the confidence that our students and their families have in our ability to teach.

To return the favor, for each student that is referred, we will:

  • Add $50 to our scholarship fund to make our quality lessons available to a wider community.
  • Waive the $30 registration fee for your friend as a welcome gift to our school.
  • Send you a thank you gift.

4. Emergency Zoom Links

Please save your teacher’s zoom link for emergency situations if you need to meet on zoom for your lesson. We might not be able to provide it to you last minute because we simply do not check emails or messages every second.

The links can be found here.

5. Teacher News
